EASLEY — Local young ladies have a chance to vie for a crown while raising money for the Dacusville community next month during the Miss Dacusville Sweetheart Pageant.
The pageant, a fundraiser for the Dacusville Community Club, will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at Dacusville Middle School.
Pageant practice will be held 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6.
Entry forms are available at Sunhut Tanning Salon, Brooklyn’s Boutique Formal and Casual Wear, the Foothills Dance Company and Norton Real Estate in Dacusville.
The pageant will feature pageant, photogenic and casual wear divisions for ages six months to 21.
Pageant fees are $50, with the photogenic division $10 extra and the casual wear division $20 extra.
The Miss Dacusville Sweetheart Winner will receive a crown and the 1st and 2nd runner-up will receive a trophy, with all other contestants receiving gifts.
There will be an overall winner in the photogenic and casual wear divisions as well.
All winners earn a spot riding in the Dacusville Christmas Parade this year.
Several contestants from the Miss South Carolina organization will be on-hand assisting with the pageant. Bring your camera and get your picture taken with the queens.
All pageant proceeds will go to the Dacusville Community Club, said Theresa Woods, Miss Dacusville Sweetheart Pageant Director.
The Community Club puts on the Dacusville Christmas Parade every year, she said.
“The money we raise we try to put back in to the community,” Woods said.
Other fundraisers for the club are in the works, including a mother/daughter pageant later this year, she said.
“We’re going to do several different things to raise money for the community,” Woods said.
The pageant will also feature a “Pennies for the Community” contest, with a prize awarded to the pageant contestant that brings in the most pennies.
Money raised from this contest will go toward to help needy families in the Dacusville community with food and clothing expenses.
Pageant entries must be received by Sunday, February 3. All checks should be made out to the Dacusville Community Club.
