STATE - Pickens County Sheriff C. David Stone was recently honored for 26 years of service as the Secretary/Treasurer of the S.C. Sheriff’s Association. The Association is composed of the 46 sheriffs across the state, who, along with a small staff of personnel, work together to encourage crime prevention and citizen safety legislation. The Association also provides training to law enforcement personnel and education programs for its members.

The board position of Secretary/Treasurer is an elected position, and is filled by the vote of the 46 sheriffs in South Carolina. The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for recording minutes of both board and business meetings, reviewing all Association financial records, and making budget recommendations to the board.

At the 2012 SCSA Winter Conference held in Columbia on January 26, 2012, Executive Director Jeffrey B. Moore presented Sheriff Stone with an award of appreciation for his years of dedicated service as the SCSA Secretary/Treasurer. Mr. Moore commented, “Sheriff Stone’s experience and knowledge have proven to be a huge benefit to the Sheriff’s Association over the years. The people of Pickens County should be very proud to have such a stalwart leader in law enforcement.”
