The board unanimously elected Jim Shelton as their new leader Monday night.
They also chose Kevin Kay as vice chairman and Judy Edwards as secretary.
Following board officer elections, the group approved the process for naming the second elementary school in Liberty.
The board will announce plans through the media, district Web site, parent newsletters, etc., its plans to consider names for the school, according to ombudsman Henry Hunt.
A list of proposed names will be compiled, and a committee of representatives from the Liberty area will narrow the list down to three, recommending first, second and third choices to the board.
The board will have the final authority on deciding the name, Hunt said.
The trustees also agreed to pay Dr. Mendel Stewart $10,000 per month for her services as interim superintendent.
Dan Trouten, a resident attending the meeting, questioned what it is costing the school district to pay Stewart and for paying off Lee D’Andrea’s contract.
He said the public would like to know where the money was coming from and said he hoped it would not affect students.
Board members plan to send a resolution to the state legislature asking for more flexibility in how some state funds are spent.
