James David Garrick, 76, of Easley, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, following a long and courageous battle with leukemia at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late James Edwin Garrick and Ruth Garrick Adcox. Mr. Garrick, a US Army veteran, graduate of Southern College of Pharmacy, was one of the former owners of Alexander Drug Co in Easley and was employed by CVS. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Jim, lovingly called “Bop-Bop” by his family, took great pleasure in conversation with his many customers over the years, working in his garden, spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his wit and humor with all he met.
He is survived by Evelyn Hare Garrick, his loving wife of 49 years, one son, Neil Garrick of Greenville and daughters Sheila Grymes (Harry) of Mill Spring NC and Donna Robertson of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Janie Day (John) of Pickens; a brother, Riley Garrick (Judy) of Easley; step-brother, Kenneth Adcox (Elaine) of Easley, and step-sister, Nancy Holcombe of Anderson; three grandchildren, Garrick, Davis and Will Robertson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Ann Patrick and her husband Thomas Patrick.
The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 22, 2012 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Garden.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Gary Spitzer and staff, Amber Lewis and the research department, the entire 5th floor staff at St. Francis and to Open Arms Hospice for the loving care they gave to Jim.
