Melanie Darlene Waters and Patrick Evan Newton were united in the covenant of marriage on Saturday, the first of September, 2012 at The View Point at Buckhorn Creek in Greenville, SC. The Reverend Doctor William P. Seel officiated at the 6:00pm outdoor ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Waters of Easley, SC. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lauren Waters, also of Easley, and Mrs. Betty Martin and the late Howard Martin.

Melanie is a 2000 Easley High graduate and a graduate of Carson Newman College and East Tennessee State University. She is a Physical Therapist and is employed with The Care Center in Powdersville.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Newton of Easley, SC. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Newton, and Mrs. Frances Tinsley and the late Charles Tinsley.

Evan is a 2003 Easley High graduate and a graduate of Anderson University. He is a general contractor and owner of Evan Newton Construction.

The bride was escorted by her father, Mr. Larry Waters. Mrs. Rebecca Parker, friend of the bride, served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Danielle Norris, Mrs. Holly Hall, Miss Morgan Williams, all friends of the bride; Mrs. Elizabeth Greenwood, sister of the groom, and Dr. Natalee French, cousin of the groom. Miss Allyssa Mathis, friend of the bride, was a junior bridesmaid. Flower girl was Tala Moffitt, friend of the bride.

Mr. Don Newton, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Phillip French, uncle of the groom; Dr. Robert Clippard and Mr. Dean Brantley, friends of the groom; Mr. Eric Greenwood, brother-in-law of the groom, and Dr. John French, cousin of the groom.

The ceremony greeter was Miss Saundra Newton, aunt of the groom. Program and guest book attendants were Dr. and Mrs. Brandon Essary, cousins of the groom.

Melanie proudly wore her wedding gown in honor of her maternal grandmother, Betty Martin, who wore it in her wedding 70 years ago.

The couple enjoyed a Caribbean cruise followed by a visit to Walt Disney World for their honeymoon. They reside in Easley, SC.
