EASLEY—An Easley woman is dead after being struck by her own vehicle Friday.

Jessica Hoepelman-Garcia, 34, died at around 7 a.m. on Friday after exiting her 2006 Mercury SUV at her home on 189 Fernwood Drive in Easley.

“(Hoepelman-Garcia) had brought the vehicle to a stop, then exited the vehicle,” said South Carolina State Trooper Billy Elder. “The (vehicle) began to roll backwards, and struck the female. The female died as a result of the crash.”

Hoepelman-Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley says the victim was behind her vehicle when it struck.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating.
