POWDERSVILLE — Wren Elementary Principal Rhonda Rhodes was recently named Administrator of the Year by the South Carolina School Counselor’s Association.
The award is designed to recognize an outstanding administrator for the profound and lasting impact on the counseling and helping profession.
Rhodes was recognized during the SCSCA Fall Conference 2012 on November 3 at the awards luncheon in Myrtle Beach, SC.
“It is an honor to be recognized by such a professional organization as the South Carolina School Counselors Association,” Rhodes said. “This group recognizes and serves the needs of an entire school community and focuses on how students are different as a result of our work. Being recognized with this honor is a testament of Wren Elementary School’s comprehensive counseling program and our overall mission: “Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day.”
Anderson One Superintendent Wayne Fowler said he believes the right person was selected.
“Ms. Rhodes works closely with the guidance counselor in her school. She is very involved with the school family and community. She works diligently to maintain a school culture that supports high student achievement. She is very deserving of this award.”
Rhodes was nominated by Wren Elementary guidance counselor Tamela Ward.
“She has a heart for every child in our school,” Ward said. “She’s so involved in our community, and has started so many initiatives that look out for the whole child and not just the academic side of things. She has done a super job, and there’s no better person for this award.”
The South Carolina School Counselor’s Association is an educational and charitable organization which has established itself as a leader in serving the diversity of helping professions that exists in South Carolina.
