PICKENS COUNTY – A Clemson student is dead following an armed robbery in Pickens County on Saturday night.

The Pickens County Coroner, Kandy Kelley, has confirmed that the shooting victim was 23-year-old, Steven Gregory Grich, of Fortmill, S.C.

“It was a home invasion homicide. He was a student and very dedicated to his studies there at the University. He had no ties to anyone that would be associated to this type of behavior so we are still trying to figure out how this happened and why,” said Lt. J.B. Kelley of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

According to law enforcement officials, three men are believed to be responsible.

“Right now we are looking at what we’ve been told, and what we are looking for is two black males and one white male,” Kelley said.

Lt. Kelley said that the incident took place at an apartment complex in Clemson a little after 8 p.m. and is asking citizens to be on the lookout for the vehicle used by the three suspects.

“What we are looking for is somewhere around a 2005 Dodge Durango four door with black tinted windows and five spoke aluminum wheels,” Kelley said.
