PICKENS – The executive director of the Pickens Revitalization Association, Kristen Henry, has resigned, effective Dec. 26, 2012.

“I have resigned as Executive Director of the Pickens Revitalization Association effective immediately,” Henry stated in an email sent to The Easley Progress on Wednesday.

Henry assumed the role of executive director in February 2012.

The PRA was created in July 2011 with an executive director and nine board members consisting of local merchants and citizens. The PRA is a Main Street South Carolina Program and is dedicated to the preservation, enhancement and sustainable growth of Pickens Historic downtown area.

During Henry’s tenure as executive director, the PRA became involved in a variety of business and community projects including establishing a website, a monthly newsletter, a monthly merchant’s meeting, shop local initiatives, and the “Gift of Pickens” project that saw $8,000 put directly into the local economy.
