PICKENS COUNTY—On Sunday, April 12, Sunrise services will be held all over Pickens County in honor of the Easter holiday. Members of different churches around the area come together to celebrate Easter then hurry off to their home church.
In Dacusville, two churches have a tradition of meeting up every year for this special event. Nine Forks and Shoal’s Creek meet at 7 a.m. for a worship service. The meeting between the churches is at Shoal’s Creek on Shoal’s Creek Road. This is located right behind Nine Forks. Nine Forks Baptist’s pastor, Jack Hester will be the speaker. In Easley, Rock Springs Baptist will have their Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. outside in the parking lot in front of the gymnasium. Pastor David Gallamore will head up the service. Breakfast will follow the service.
Liberty will also be hosting a Sunrise Service. The new stage for Liberty Idol will be used for the first time during this service. The service will take place in downtown Liberty at the new gazebo. Liberty United Methodist’s pastor Warren Ashmore will be the speaker. The service will take place at 7 a.m. This is a non-denominational service.
In Pickens, one of the most popular Sunrise Services over the years has been at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mausoleum. For information on the Sunrise Service at Hillcrest Memorial call 878-9312.
Everyone is invited to join a Sunrise Service. The speakers encourage all to come out and visit and celebrate the Easter holiday with them.
