PICKENS — Vera E. Roach, 82, wife of the late Lewis E. Roach Sr., went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2009.

Born July 19, 1926 in Laurens County, she was the daughter of the late J. D. “Doc” and Minnie Thompson Bennett.

She was a faithful member at Bethany Church of God in Pickens. She was retired from Singer in Pickens.

She was predeceased by two brothers Clarence and Rumsley Bennett and two sisters Ruby Nelson and Remonia Garner.

She was a loving mother to three daughters Kathy and husband Rose Aiken of Greenville, Elaine Latour of Easley, Barbara and husband William “Billy” Lee of Easley; one son Lewis Roach Jr. and wife Cynthia of Pickens. She was also a loving Grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 33 foster children.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 14, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Bethany Church of God in Pickens with the Rev. Roger Stephens and the Rev. Doug Saylors officiating. Burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens.

The family will be at her home, 851 Cove Creek Rd., Pickens.

The family wishes to express a special “thank you” to all the staff at Hospice of the Upstate for all your devoted and tender care you showed to our Mother during her last days, and all the support to the family.
