EASLEY—Theater fans will have one last chance to see "The Boy Friend," the Easley High School play.
The musical will conclude its four-day run with a 3 p.m. matinee Sunday.
The play, written by Sandy Wilson, debuted in London in 1953. The 1920s theme was a hit with the crowds, who were still adjusting to life after World War II. The jazzy tunes of the Roaring 20s provided relief to the stressed crowd.
When the play came to Broadway in 1954, it marked the American debut of Julie Andrews, who starred as Polly.
For the Easley High School production, Jessica Berryhill plays Polly Browne, the only girl among her friends who does not have a boyfriend for the fancy dress ball. She meets Tony, played by Jordan Andrews, whom she thinks is a simple errand boy, and the two hit it off. But Tony has a secret that keeps them apart.
The play is three acts of singing, dancing and laughs. Janette Walters makes her debut directing an Easley High School production.
