EASLEY — An Easley man died Sunday after a single-car accident.

Justin O’Shields, 23, of 1809 Jameson Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Pickens County Coroner Kandy C. Kelley said.

The accident occurred Sunday morning as O’Shields was traveling south on Piney Creek Road, 8 miles north of Easley, according to Lance Cpl. Joseph Robinson with the SC Highway Patrol.

O’Shields lost control of his 2008 Dodge 4-door pickup, which left the roadway and struck a tree, Robinson said.

He was not ejected from the vehicle, Robinson said.

Speed was a factor in the accident, and alcohol testing results are pending, he said

O’Shields was not wearing a seat belt and died of blunt force trauma, Kelley said.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
