Severe thunderstorms have caused widespread damage across Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative’s service area. At 5:30 p.m., about 9,500 members were without power. Eleven backbone feeders were out, and there were numerous other scattered outages. Repair crews had come across several broken poles. Pickens County was hardest hit, with 7,000 members without service. Another 2,000 were without power in Oconee County, around 500 outages in Anderson County, and fewer than 10 members in Greenville County.

The cooperative’s operations department estimates it could be Friday morning before service is restored to all affected members.

To report an outage, call 1-888-BLUE RIDGE.
