LIBERTY – Come October, 40 to 50 new jobs will be available in Pickens County.

The jobs through Tri Tech USA, Inc. will range from clerical, administrative, finance, assembly, skilled trades and all spectrums of skills from those in the community.

Officials with the company held a beam signing ceremony Friday morning at their new location in the Pickens County Commerce Park to celebrate construction of a headquarters and manufacturing facility.

Last December, Tri Tech USA owners Joe and Linda Bacigalupo announced their intent to relocate their operations to Pickens County.

“We are pleased and excited to be here,” said Linda Bacigalupo. “We plan to move our headquarters here.”

“However, to make this happen requires people. We will need to fill many positions. We need knowledgable, skilled people, which is one of the reasons we chose Pickens County,” she said.

Joe Bacigalupo founded the business 24 years ago.

He told a story at the event about a student that just graduated from high school and took classes at the B.J. Skelton Career Center. This student was first in his class in machining and won the state competition. This student will be joining the Bacigalupos and their staff at Tri Tech.

Following the completion of the approximately 41,000 square-foot facility in October, the company will invest at least $4 million in two different lines of business along with employing at least 40 people.

The company’s primary business is custom manufacturing and advanced metalworking for commercial industrial applications. They manufacture and fabricate metal components, tooling and fixtures.

The company works with businesses in the aerospace, pharmaceutical, food processing and furniture fields. They do in-house manufacturing including engineering and design, machining, fabrication and finishing.

Tri Tech USA, Inc. is also involved with another line of work, the production of commercial grade mobile kitchens and other products for the United States military.

The units are used to feed the front line soldiers in military operations worldwide. They can serve from 90 to 600 soldiers.

“Rising to meet the challenges of today’s economy, Tri Tech USA, Inc. has chosen to create jobs and invest in the future of their business in Pickens County,” said Jennifer Willis, Vice-Chairman of Pickens County Council.

“While many are closing businesses or going overseas, Joe and Linda Bacigalupo have figured out how to succeed and thrive in this environment, and we welcome them to our community and know that our citizens will be eager to fill the jobs they are creating,” she said.

The beam signing took place on the future location of Tri Tech USA, Inc., taking the place of the more traditional ground breaking ceremony.

Those in attendance were asked to sign a particular I-beam that, once installed, would be integral to supporting the finished building.

Gresham Barrett, of the United States Congress, welcomed the Bacigalupos into the South Carolina and Pickens County families.

“You may be from Vermont, but you’re in South Carolina now, and you’re family now,” said Barrett.

“Small businesses like Tri Tech USA, Inc. make up 97 percent of the businesses in South Carolina. This is where men and women, like the Bacigalupos, keep the economy going. Pickens County has got it going on,” he said.

The Tri Tech USA, Inc. building is the fifth building to be constructed in the Pickens County Commerce Park since it opened more than five years ago.

The Liberty office of the S.C. Employment Security Commission will handle job applications. ReadySC will perform employee training at Tri County Technical College for these jobs.

Manufacturing positions will pay an average of $17 per hour wage.
