For the past year, Porter has also graced the Sho’s Café customers with her smiling face.
Porter has worked at Joe’s for over 25 years, getting to know every face that walks through the door. She said she loves her job because of all the wonderful customers that come in and the great crew she works with at both small-town restaurants.
Many people may not know it, but Porter has another side to her. She is a strong-willed breast cancer survivor.
Porter was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2005. She is still going through radiation and chemotherapy treatments and will continue those for a while. However, this disease has not gotten her down.
She is a huge advocate for breast cancer awareness and has participated in Relay for Life. Last year, she was awarded the Rookie of the Year honor for her Relay for Life team. They called her “Lucky Lois.”
With breast cancer awareness being so close to her heart, she wanted to try to help others.
“I feel like I am a nice, good-hearted woman,” said Porter. “I try to help others whenever I can.”
The funny, loving, “crazy” as she puts it, waitress that the Easley community has come to know and love is a miracle in herself. She loves the people of Easley, and they love her.
