EASLEY — An Easley man died early Friday morning from injuries sustained in an accident on S.C. 93.

Shannon Lee Long, 26, of 206 S. 8th St., was traveling south when his 1991 Nissan Pathfinder went off the right side of the road, struck and embankment and overturned, according to Lance Cpl. Brian McDougald of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Long was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma to the neck, according to Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, she said.

The accident happened around 3:30 a.m., according to McDougald.

He said the speed limit in the area, about 2 miles east of Easley, was 35 mph, and that speed was believed to be a factor in the accident.
