CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- Easley's Junior League baseball team will have a chance to advance to the Junior League World Series if they can defeat North Carolina in the championship game 11 a.m. Wednesday.

As often happens in baseball, both Easley and North Carolina came into Tuesday's game as the lower-seeded team.

Easley topped Florida 6-5 and North Carolina defeated Virginia 5-4.

The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to the Junior League World Series, to be played Aug. 16-22 in Taylor, Mich.

In a way, Easley got some revenge for South Carolina. Last year's S.C. state champions, Northwood Little League in Greenville, fell to Florida in the semi-finals of the Southeast Regional.

The last time Easley represented South Carolina in the Junior League Southeast Regional was in 2003.

Curacao, representing Latin America, won the 2008 Junior League World Series.
