CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- The Easley Juniors all-star baseball team will face North Carolina at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the championship game of the Junior League Southeast Regional.

The winner of the game will advance to the Junior League World Series, to be played in Taylor, Mich. Aug. 16-22.

Easley defeated Florida 6-5 in the semi-finals. North Carolina defeated Virginia 5-4 in the other semi-final games.

As often happens in baseball, both Easley and North Carolina were the lower seeded teams in the semi-finals.

Easley got a measure of revenge for its home state. Last year's South Carolina state champions, Northwood Little League from Greenville, fell to Florida in the semi-finals of the Southeastern Regionals.

The last time a team from Easley represented South Carolina in the Junior League Southeast Regional was in 2003.

Curacao, representing Latin America, was the Junior League World Champions in 2008. Aruba is the Latin American Regionals representatives for the 2009 JLWS.

Other teams already set for the JLWS include New Mexico, Siapan, Puerto Rico and Italy.
