MYRTLE BEACH — A 62-year old Easley woman has died from injuries she suffered after being struck by an SUV in Horry County.

Darlene Patterson, 62, of 3127 Alberson Drive, Easley, died at the Medical University of South Carolina Friday, August 21, according to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge.

Patterson and a friend were walking on a sidewalk near condominiums on Lake Arrowhead Road, when she was struck by an SUV backing out of a driveway, investigators said.

Initially taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Patterson was transferred to MUSC where she died of trauma, Edge said.

The driver of the SUV will not be charged, investigators said.
