Green Wave Volleyball has strong start in conference play

EASLEY – The Easley High Lady Greenwave started the year strong with their conference opener games against Laurens and the T.L. Hanna.

Easley defeated Laurens three games to one with a full team effort to win the game. Kristi Cantrell led the team with four aces. Christina Wynne led the team with four kills followed closely by Laura Clark, Brooke Barnes and Samantha Bailey all with three kills. Myya Hill, Wynne and Bailey all had three blocked kills.

The Easley junior varsity team also defeated conference rivals Laurens two games to one. Savannah Bowens, Alison Gravila and Brianna Case all led the team with multiple aces. Bowens and Keaton Wylie had three kills.

Easley played T.L. Hanna later in the week and defeated them three games to one. Wynne led the team with 10 kills followed closely by Bailey’s nine kills. Clark had 20 assists. Cantrell had 10 digs followed by Barnes’ nine digs. Morgan Looper had five digs and three kills.

The junior varsity also won two games to one. Bowen had an outstanding night with 14 digs, 4 aces, 2 kills, 2 blocks and 2 blocked kills. Anna Jewell had six digs. Case had five digs and two aces. Wylie and Crissy Gray had four kills each and Gravila had two aces.

The EHS varsity volleyball team won first place in the Cooper Division earlier in the season at the 2009 Hillcrest High School Tournament.

The Westside game scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to some coaching changes recently. Sources said Steve Antes will step in as the interim coach for now. Check The Easley Progress to keep up with the Lady Green Wave volleyball season.
