PICKENS - Giving blood is one of the greatest gifts we can give. It is a way to celebrate life by giving life.
Blue Ridge Electric will be hosting its annual Fall Blood Drive, Thursday, Oct. 22 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. for employees and other interested community members.
Open to the public, the blood drive will be held at the Blue Ridge Co-op Pickens office, located at 734 West Main Street.
“We sponsor two blood drives a year because we understand the importance of increasing the number of donations to our local blood supply,” said Charles Dalton, president and CEO of Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative.
“I’d like to encourage local residents to come out on October 22nd and join us in making a difference,” he said.
“Together we can save lives. If you’re interested in donating, please give Andrea Griffin a call at 898-2027 and schedule a time for your donation.”
If you’re eligible to give blood, give and give often. Anyone 17 years of age or older, weighing at least 110 pounds, and in good health can donate.
Whole blood can be donated every 56 days, or every eight weeks. Individuals can give up to six times a year.
