During the Oct. 3 Pride of Pendleton Marching Classic at Pendleton High School, the Green Wave band took home first place in horn line, drum line and color guard. They also were given a superior rating and took home the award of first place band. EHS was awarded Grand Champions of the Pendleton Marching Classis.
On Oct. 10, the EHS Marching Band participated in the James R. Golden Band Invitational at Belton-Honea Path High School where they received awards for first place color guard, first place band, superior rating, best Pit Crew of the Gold Division and Grand Champions of the Gold Division.
The Pit Crew are all the hard working parents that assist with field preparation and tear own for the performances, said EHS Director of Bands, Patrick Mainieri.
“Our booster club is incredible with some of the most supportive parents, relatives and community members around,” aid Mainieri. “They are a major reason for our success. They assist with everything from chaperoning to feeding the students hot meals while we are on the road competing. Many of them do not get to see the final show product from the stands because they are on the field level assisting with props and instruments.”
Mainieri said the parents deserve to be recognized along side the students for their hard work.
“We are fortunate to have such a supportive parent force and community behind our program,” he said. “The students are prepared to work hard for the next three weeks to represent Easley High School and our community at our highest level.”
The EHS Marching Band gets set this week on Oct. 17 to perform at the15th annual Loy E. Wagner Invitational band competition at Palmetto High School at 8:45 p.m. They will also travel to the Upper State Competition at Boiling Springs High School on Oct. 24. Their performance is set for 7:30 p.m.
Mainieri, band members and parents hope the Easley community will come out and support their band at all of the EHS football games and during competitions.
