EASLEY — Frances Fortner Rogers, 90, of 209 Ridgewood Street, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at her home.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late William Edd and Leila Chapman Fortner. Mrs. Rogers served as payroll clerk at Mayfair Mills - Easley Plant for more than 50 Years and was a life long member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

After her retirement, Mrs. Rogers loved working in her yard and having flowers blooming as long as possible during the year. In her later years, she enjoyed watching the birds outside her sunroom.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by a daughter, Ann R. Owens of the home; a brother, William L. (Dub) Fortner and his wife Beth of Easley; two grandsons, Charles Bradley Owens of Columbia and Roger Marion Owens and wife Donna of Easley; two great-grandsons, Brayden Charles Owens and Kaleb Dean Owens, both of Easley and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers is predeceased by her husband, William Milton (Shorty) Rogers; a son-in-law, Marion Charles Owens and two sisters, Nell F. Hood and Edna F. Hunter.

Funeral services were conducted 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, officiated by the Rev. Dale McCoig. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
