Liberty advances to second round of playoffs

LIBERTY – The Liberty High School Lady Red Devils defeated Broome High School Monday night on the opening night of the 2009 volleyball state playoffs.

Liberty started off strong winning the first set 25-21. However, they then lost the next two 22-25 and 19-25.

With a crowd of supporters, Liberty rallied back to defeat Broome the last two sets 25-13 and 15-11.

Liberty had some big plays come from all of the girls. Hailey King had some big kills during the game.

Sara Shaffer and Amber King helped the team with several aces apiece.

With the win on Monday, Liberty will face the winner of the Keenan High and Saluda High game on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

They hope to continue their success as the playoffs go forward.
