EASLEY — Heyward Julius “Tooter” Sweet, 72, of 1820 Arial Street, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at his home.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Louis Franklin and Christine Fortner Sweet. Mr. Sweet was retired from Alice Manufacturing and was a member of Elljean Baptist Church and loved to fish and hunt.

Mr. Sweet is survived by a son, Chad Sweet (Amy) of Powdersville; three daughters, Lisa Ann Chandler (Roger) of Slabtown, Deneen Trotter of Liberty and Tammy Duncan (Allen) of Easley; four grandchildren, Brandy Duncan McAlister (Cody), William Anthony Shaver, Nicholas Heyward Sweet and Caroline Marie Sweet; three sisters, Pat Cantrell of West Palm Beach, Fla., Bobbie Stephens and Louise Youngblood of Easley.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sweet was predeceased by his wife Carol Ann Sheppard Sweet and three brothers, Ronnie, Bill and "Cotton" Sweet.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2009, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
