CENTRAL — The Daniel Lady Lions have claimed the Upperstate volleyball title for the first time since 2003 and are headed to the state championship game Saturday.

Daniel defeated Riverside Wednesday night to claim Upperstate bragging rights.

After falling behind two games to one, the Lady Lions came back in the fourth game to even things up with Riverside.

Then they went on to close the deal, winning the fifth and final game of the match.

The scores were 25-18, 22-25, 25-27, 25-16 and 15-5.

The Lady Lions will take on Bluffton in the state championships Saturday at White Knoll High School in Lexington. The match begins at 4 p.m.
