The Hurricanes came out fast and strong as senior Sydney Rhodes picked up where he left off last week, returning an Easley punt 80 yards for the Hurricanes first score of the game with 8:57 remaining in the first quarter.
The very next Hurricane possession Austin McCaskill connected with Rhodes for a 50-yard touchdown strike to make the score 14-0 with 7:05 remaining in the first quarter.
“Sydney had a great game tonight,” McCaskill said after the game. “He ran very crisp routes and I was able to just throw the ball up and he seemed to be right there underneath the ball.”
McCaskill and Rhodes would hook up two more times before the end of the first quarter to make the score at the start of the second quarter 28-0.
The remaining three quarters of the game Wren simply put it into auto-pilot as they piled on 63 points for the game.
Easley was able to score twice but not until the majority of the starters from Wren had been sidelined.
Wren has turned around completely from last year’s 3-8 season.
“You can’t play any of them until you play the first one,” Tate said.
“We are going to get to work on Sunday and breakdown film so that we can draw up a game plan to magnify our strengths as a team.”
Wren (9-2) will host the St. James Sharks (3-8) from Murrells Inlet on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
