• L.M. Bauknight of Easley was named “Master Teacher” of agriculture.

• R.H. Crane was appointed Liberty magistrate.

• Southern Bell reported installing 506 phones in Easley, the most ever in a year.

• Mary Claudette Foster was the first local baby born in 1960.

• “From Here To Eternity,” starring Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra, was playing at the Easley Drive-In.

• Obituaries were printed for Arthur W. Cox, Gertrude Acker Ragsdale, Clara May Barnes Shirley, Joe J. Sitton, James Henry Whitlock, Elliott “Ed” Hamby, Raymond Welborn Campbell, Marvin Radford “Bud” McKinney and Fannie Pridemore Hogan.
