EASLEY – An Easley man is still behind bars, facing several drug charges that date back as far as September.

Antonio Demitrius Jones, 31, of 104 Wilbur St., faces two counts of selling cocaine, one count of possession with intent to distribute, one count of possession with intent to distribute in proximity of a school, two counts of selling in proximity to a school, and three counts of assault on a police officer, according to arrest warrants.

Police say that on Sept. 29, 2009, Jones “willfully and unlawfully” sold a quantity of cocaine base, also called crack cocaine, to an undercover operative working under the direct supervision of an Easley police officer, according to arrest warrants.

The incident allegedly occurred within a half mile of Simpson Academy, the warrants state.

According to warrants, the transaction was recorded using audio recording devices.

Police have also accused Jones of selling cocaine to an undercover worker on Nov. 10, 2009, the warrants state.

When police went to Jones’ home on Dec. 16 to serve warrants and arrest him, they say he had more than a gram of an “off-white rock like substance” believed to be cocaine base in his possession, according to the warrants.

At the time of arrest, police say Jones struck three officers “about the face, head and/or body with his elbows, hands and/or feet,” warrants allege.

According to Sgt. Anthony Massingill of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, Jones is being held at the detention center on a $165,000 surety bond.
