Dorothy Ruth Mauthe McBrayer

GREENVILLE — Dorothy Ruth Mauthe McBrayer, 94, of 11 E. Augusta Place, Greenville, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was a daughter of the late John Martin and Alma Johanna Stein Mauthe and widow of Harry Edward McBrayer, husband of 45 years. Prior to her retirement, Dot worked in retail sales with J.C. Penney. She also assisted with voter registration, and she adored animals. She was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Jo Hoxit and husband Bill of Easley; one son, Dr. Rob McBrayer, DVM and wife Ruth of Williamsburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Cindy Walker and Christy Henderson and husband Christian; one sister, Eileen Reeves of Marietta, Ga.; and nephew, Matt Mauthe, wife Diane, and their three sons.

Dot was preceded in death by three brothers, Jid, Milton, and Ralph Mauthe.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, with visitation prior from 3 p.m.– 3:45 p.m.
