Nations will leave her position as executive director of Prevent Child Abuse Pickens County on Feb. 23 so that she can accept the position of expansion coordinator for the Greenville Hospital System’s Safe Kids program.
Nations informed the media, friends and supporters of PCAPC Wednesday afternoon through an email.
Nations said one of the reasons she is leaving is because of the better health insurance available through the new position.
“As my family has grown by two little ones, so too have the overwhelming costs of doctor bills, private insurance premiums, etc., Nations said in her e-mail.
Nations noted that through Safe Kids Upstate, she would still be able to serve the communities in Pickens and Oconee counties.
Though she is leaving her position as executive director, Nations plans to continue to volunteer for PCAPC and be an advocate for the organization.
A graduate of Easley High School, Nations began volunteering for Prevent Child Abuse Pickens County in 1997.
She was Miss Easley 2002, and had “Preventing Child Abuse” as her platform for the Miss South Carolina Pageant” that year.
Nations begins her new position March 1.
