UPDATE: More than 4,000 Blue Ridge customers without power

UPSTATE—The freezing rain and snow from Saturday morning’s storm are causing power lines to break and leaving thousands facing the weather without power.

As of 9:30 a.m., Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative reported 4,206 members without power. Most of the trouble is concentrated in northern Pickens County, where two main circuits are out, according to Terry Ballenger, spokesperson

In northern Greenville County, more than 700 members were without power. In northern Oconee County, almost 700 member were without power.

Only a few scattered outages were noted in southern Oconee and Pickens counties and in northern Anderson County.
