One photo, used with The Easley Progress “Through the Years” feature last year, is of an Easley Boy Scout Troop from 1954. A young man named Stewart Bauknight is in that photo.
“That’s at least 55 years that he has been contributing to the Boy Scouts,” Dykes said. “He is a wonderful example of the type of quality people Scouting helps to produce.”
Bauknight will be honored March 18 at the annual Easley Boy Scout Dinner.
The dinner is the main fundraiser for the Easley Scouts.
“I don’t know the exact numbers, but I think there are 15 Cub Scout packs, 10 Boy Scout troops, and three Explorer crew who benefit from this dinner,” Dykes said.
The dinner, which promises “the biggest rib-eye you’ve ever eaten…” is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Easley First Baptist Church.
