Lawmakers like to talk about how much they support the troops, but our own Senator Lindsey Graham is one of the few to put his money where his mouth is. As a National Guard and Reserve Air Force Colonel, he has personally served overseas and knows what it will take to defeat America’s enemies. One of his prescriptions: energy independence.
Every year, we send billions of dollars to unfriendly regimes — including state sponsors of terror — to buy their oil. The last thing any of us want is our money going to the very terrorists who are shooting at our soldiers, but today we are indeed funding both sides of the war on terror. This must end, and it’s time for our representatives in Washington to follow Senator Graham’s example and start supporting energy legislation that will benefit both our troops and our economy.
