EASLEY — After a weekend in which the area was covered with snow, the City of Easley is ready for a downtown festival to celebrate heritage and brotherhood.

The “Family Fest,” which was postponed last week due to the weather, will be held Saturday in Old Market Square.

The weekend begins Friday night with the Black History Fashion Show, set to begin 7 p.m. at the Simpson Academy.

The city festivities will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in Old Market Square.

“As far as I know, everyone who had planned to speak or perform last week, has agreed to do so this week,” said Scott Buckheister of Dunburks Premium Events.

The Family Fest has a theme of “One World ... One Community ... In Unity.”

The free festival promises food, vendors, entertainment and children’s rides.

At 1 p.m., the eighth annual Easley Black History Parade will be held.

The Family Fest is scheduled to end at 4 p.m.
