EASLEY – The Easley High School Marching Band left for Disney World on Feb. 10 for its annual spring trip where they performed in the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade.

The parade was held at the Magic Kingdom and held on Feb. 11. It is the largest character parade of the day, Easley Band Director Patrick Mainieri said.

“There is a very competitive selection process to participate,” he said. “We played a piece called ‘Tribute to America’ which incorporates many patriotic melodies in the arrangement. Many veterans stood and saluted the band as they passed.”

There were thousands of people lining the streets as the band made its way down Main Street USA towards Cinderella’s Castle then through Frontier Land, he said.

94 EHS Band students and 12 adult staff and chaperones attended the trip. Students also spent time in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney.

While in Downtown Disney, the students attended the Cirque de Soleil La Nouba show, Mainieri said.

“All of this was packed into the four day trip and students arrived back home on Monday morning after another long night of traveling,” he said.

Mainieri and his band said they would like to thank the many business partners and parents that donated funds to help some students attend the trip this year.

“We would also like to thank Dr. Danny Merck, principal at EHS, for traveling to Orlando to support our student’s performance,” he said. “Easley High School and our community were represented at a very high level of professionalism and performance by our band students. Easley should be very proud.”
