EASLEY – Dan Davis is new to Easley but has many hopes to help Easley bring in a “big” event to the town and Pickens County.

“Easley would be a great place for a big event,” Davis told members of Vision 2025 Sense of Place last Friday. “My specialty is bringing crowds to the area. If you have a major event, it’s good for the community.”

Davis threw out several ideas to the group: an Oktoberfest event, an Irish festival or a cowboy festival.

“With the facilities we have here already in the area, a bucking bull event would be great,” he said. “You could bring in real cowboys and this could become a real big business. Bull riding and horse farms are already a real big thing in this area.”

Davis said he recommends making the event a long event, spread out over several weeks or months and get everyone involved with helping out from professional groups to public works to charity groups.

“Easley and Pickens County are the perfect venue for an event like this,” he said. “You could do it once a year any time of the year, depending on the event. With the bucking bull event, there could be horse parades or other events during the duration of the event.”

Davis hopes to continue to speak with Easley officials to try and get an event started.

He spoke with the Downtown Business Association during their Feb. meeting about coordinating an event with the festivals that are already in place in Easley.
