LIBERTY – The town of Liberty has made it clear to other municipalities that they will cooperate with the county to make changes if necessary to meet recycling goals and the county has responded.

Mayor Pro Tem Michael Sheriff told council Monday that a recycling center is in the process of being developed, and the county has donated four bins for Liberty residents to put their recyclable material in. Those bins should be in next week.

The county has also help Liberty by doing the paving of the area. Liberty also hopes to put signs off of highway 178 pointing residents in the direction of the new recycling center where citizens can distribute their recyclables while helping their town reach their recycling percentage goal.

“I want to thank the members of the county for how they are working with us on the recycling issue,” Councilman Dwight Yates said. “The Mayor is working closely with them. They are furnishing the containers with no cost to us.”

Councilman Josh Harrison also thanked Mayor Brian Deese and the council for taking the “cooperation route.”

The bins should be placed within the next several days at the public works building.
