EASLEY — In the 2007 movie, “The Bucket List,” Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play two terminally-ill men who travel across the world trying to mark items off a list of things they wanted to do before they “kicked the bucket.”

While Valerie Seitz of Pickens shows no signs of illness, she does have one less item on her personal “bucket list,” as she is co-starring in “The Dixie Swim Club” at the Easley Foothills Playhouse.

Seitz has never been afraid to accept a challenge. She was a hair stylist for 10 years before deciding to become a “stay-at-home mom” for her two children. Later she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher.

She auditioned for the part of Jeri Lynn, the swim team members that begins the play as a pregnant nun, after receiving encouragement from her husband and a good friend.

Auditioning for the part was enough to strike an item from her bucket list. She was extremely surprise when she was selected to play the role.

Seitz is excited about being part of the play, which she calls “hilarious.” She said she is thrilled to be working with the other four talented actresses and director Jimmy O. Burnette, whom she called, “Amazing.”

The plays final two performances of “The Dixie Swim Club” will be Saturday and Sunday. The shows begin with a 30-minute concert by a four-piece band, followed by the play. The show begins 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
