EASLEY — Students from Landmark Christian Academy competed in the annual South Carolina Association of Christian Schools (SCACS) State Competition held at Grace Christian School in West Columbia March 18 and March 19.

Students from around the state competed in the five basic areas of Bible, music, speech, art, and academics. The Bible competition included Bible quiz teams, preaching and teaching. Academic competition included academic testing and a science fair. Music students challenged each other in solo and group competitions for both vocal and instrumental music. Speech contestants participated in such categories as debate, dramatic interpretation, original oratory, duet acting and other categories. Art students displayed their pieces for the art contest.

In addition to the handbell choir taking first place, the following places were captured by Landmark Christian Academy students:

Cody Crisp, son of Wade and Heather Crisp of Sunset, placed second in Jr. High topical Bible preaching.

Rachel Lovell, daughter of Pastor Phillip and Cathy Lovell of Easley, placed first in Jr. High monochromatic drawing.

Zachary Nix, son of Randell and Susie Nix of Liberty, placed first in High School evangelistic Bible preaching.

Destini Petitt, daughter of Roy and Sheila Petitt of Pickens, placed first in woodworking.

Shay Yates, daughter of Jery and Fawn Yates of Easley, placed first in original persuasive oratory.

The handbell choir, Zachary Nix, Destini Petitt, and Shay Yates will go on to compete in the 33rd annual American Association of Christian Schools (AACS) National Competition held at Bob Jones University April 13-April 15.

A fundamental Christian School offering grades K4-12, Landmark Christian Academy was founded in 1974 to train tomorrow’s Christian leaders.
