Sunrise Services scheduled

PICKENS COUNTY — One of the Upstate’s oldest Easter traditions — worship services that begin at sunrise — will be celebrated at various locations in Pickens County Sunday morning.

For the 60th consecutive year, the Pickens Ministerial Association will hold its sunrise service at Hillcrest Memorial Park. This year’s service is set to begin at 7 a.m. Refeshements will be served after the service.

In the event of inclement weather, the service will be move to the chapel of Dillard Memorial Funeral Home.

The Rev. Ron Duncan will be the keynote speaker for a sunrise service at the Table Rock State Park Welcome Center 7 a.m. Sunday. Duncan is the Director of Missions for the Pickens-Twelve Mile Baptist Association.

The Liberty Ministerial Association will hold its sunrise service 7 a.m. Sunday at the Sarlin Park Gazebo. The non-denominational service will be moved to Liberty First Baptist in the event of rain.

Nine Forks Baptist Church and Shoals Creek Baptist Church in Dacusville will hold their annual joint sunrise service Sunday morning beginning 7 a.m.

This year’s service will be held at Nine Forks, with Shoals Creek pastor the Rev. George Hendricks presenting the message.

Immediately following the service, Nine Forks will offer breakfast to all.

Six Mile will have a community sunrise service beginning 7 a.m. at the Six Mile Recreation facility on Pondarosa Drive off Bell Shoals Road. The service is sponsored by area churches.

Mountain View Baptist Church will host a sunrise service 7 a.m. Sunday. The church choir will perform its Easter cantata during the 11 a.m. service Sunday.
