Store Manager of Fred’s in Liberty Donna Waters asked her customers and members of the Liberty community to donate money for Easter baskets that would be passed out to Liberty Elementary, Liberty Middle and Liberty High School special needs classes.
This is Waters’ fourth year of the project. Customers and employees passed out more than 100 baskets on Friday.
“We had about 100 baskets, so we were able to send some of the extra baskets to the Pickens schools as well,” Waters said. “These baskets were given thanks to the generosity of our customers.”
Waters said she was scared that the economy would cause a slow down on the giving this year, but she said “it didn’t slow it down at all.”
“The community really comes together and shows that we have some really great people here in Liberty,” she said.
Waters said her customers have also helped her store raise more than $800 for the Children’s Miracle Network. This drive is still going.
