PICKENS — Together with Dr. Henry Hunt and teacher Joshua Sargent, Sarah Sosa added her artwork entitled “Sharpies by Sharpie” to the Superintendent’s Art Gallery on April 26.

“Sarah’s piece is a wonderful addition to the collection,” said Hunt. “We’re proud that we can emphasize the importance of the arts by showcasing students’ work in the gallery.”

In 2004 the School District of Pickens County opened the Superintendent’s Art Gallery in its boardroom at the Curtis A. Sidden Administration building. With the goal of assembling a permanent display of student art, a committee selects and purchases a work of art from the Pickens County Youth Arts display each year.

This year’s committee selected Sarah’s piece to be the fifth addition to the gallery. A junior at Pickens High School, she is the art student of Sargent and the daughter of Gladys Sosa.
