EASLEY — A new era in Easley High School’s football program will have its first on-the-field action Monday as the Green Wave begins its annual Spring practice.

S.C. High School League rules allow 10 Spring practice sessions. New coach Chad Smith said that the Green Wave will spread out those sessions over a three-week period.

“We will meet every day, but depending upon the weather, we may have to reschedule some of the on-the-field practices,” Smith said.

Spring practice will end Friday, June 4, with a 100-play “Green and White” scrimmage at 7 p.m. All other practices will begin at 4 p.m.

The first three sessions of practice will be with the players wearing helmets but not pads, and will have non-contact drills. Those sessions are set for May 17, May 19 and May 21.

On Monday, May 24, full contact practices will begin with sessions set for May 24, May 25, May 27 and May 28 for that week.

The final two practice sessions will be held June 1 and June 2, followed by the Green and White scrimmage June 4.

All practices are open to the public.

“We’re hoping that people will come out and encourage these players,” Smith said. “Having worked with these guys in the weight room, I can tell you that Easley has some young men they can be proud of. With their hard work and the support of the community, we can put a winner on Brice Field this fall.”
