With 13 of the state’s 46 counties reporting at 9:45 p.m., Zais has 26.98 percent of the vote. Second is Elizabeth Moffly with 19.7 percent, followed closely by Gary L. Burgess (18.62 percent) and Kelly Payne (17.40 percent). Brent Nelson is fifth with 11.26 percent of the vote, while Glen C. Price has 6.04 percent of the vote.
In the race for the party’s nomination for state Attorney General, Alan Wilson and Leighton Lord remain locked in a tight race. Wilson leads with 39.61 percent of the vote, while Lord has 37.72 percent of the vote. Richard Bolchoz is third with 22.67 percent of the vote.
Incumbent Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom continues to dominate challenge Mike Meilinger with 70.70 percent of the vote. Jim Demint’s 83.09 percent of the vote in the race for the party’s U.S. Senate nomination puts him far ahead of challenger Susan McDonald Gaddy.
