NORRIS – A father and son have both died from a car wreck that happened on Sunday in Norris, and one person is still in the hospital, according to Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley.

Terry Joseph Monkus, 45 of 1382 Smith Grove Rd., Liberty was pronounced dead at Greenville Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning at 10:17 a.m. after suffering from blunt force trauma, Kelley said.

Kelley said Monkus’ son, Joshua DeWayne Monkus, 25, of 1382 Smith Grove Rd., Norris was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Sunday.

The accident happened at 5:55 p.m. on Sunday. A 1996 Pontiac Grand Am was traveling south on Hwy. 137 when it lost control and struck a tree, Kelley said.

Kelley said it did not appear that any of the passengers were restrained. The incident is being investigated by South Carolina Highway Patrol.
