EASLEY—The Easley Fire Department responded to a possible fire at 129G Pebble Brook Drive at 5:43 p.m. Thursday, June 10.

The fire was contained to a mattress and box springs located in the bedroom of the apartment.

The homeowner had partially put out the blaze by using a fire extinguisher.

The carpet in the area was also slightly damaged.

The apartment was ventilated to remove smoke. Burned furniture was removed from the apartment.

The smoke detectors in the apartment did not respond due to the light smoke conditions, according to Capt. J.D. Willis of the Easley Fire Department.

The homeowner was treated by Pickens County EMS for smoke inhalation, but was not transported. Firefighters had give the homeowner oxygen before EMS workers arrived.

No injuries were reported.
