The 2010 schedule is almost identical to the 2009 schedule, with the sites for the games changed in most cases. Last year Pickens won its first three games of the season, then lost the final 7. Coach Chad Seaborn is hoping his Blue Flame can find a way to take some kind of momentum into the second half of the season and compete for a spot in the AAA state playoffs.
Pickens opens the 2010 season Aug. 27 at Pendleton. Last year Pickens opened the season against Walhalla in a non-conference game. But, as the Razorbacks have now been promoted to the AAA level and are in the same conference as Pickens, Pendleton replaces Walhalla for the opening spot for the season.
The Blue Flame travel to Liberty Sept. 3 for the second game of the season. Last year Pickens cruised to a 69-13 win over Liberty.
Pickens will host Easley in the Blue Flame’s home opener Sept. 10. Last year Pickens defeated Easley 37-17 at Brice Field in what turned out to be the team’s final win of the season.
Pickens will travel to Travelers Rest Sept. 17 to take on the Devildogs. Travelers Rest edged Pickens at Bruce Field 28-23 last season.
Pickens final non-conference game of the season will be at home Sept. 24 against Berea. The Bulldogs defeated Pickens 28-21 last year.
Pickens opens its Western AAA schedule Oct. 1 against Seneca at home. The Bobcats defeated Pickens 30-3 last year.
The Blue Flame then go on the road to Belton-Honea Path Oct. 8. The Bears topped Pickens 31-0 last season.
Pickens ends the season with consecutive home games. On Oct. 15, the West-Oak Warriors will come to Bruce Field. Last season West-Oak defeated Pickens 30-20.
Pickens will host Walhalla Oct. 22. The Blue Flame defeated Walhalla 42-10 last season in a non-conference game.
Pickens will end its regular season against defending Western AAA champions Daniel at home. Last year the Lions defeated Pickens 70-6 at Bruce Field.
