The four-team tournament began Saturday, with Guam defeating Indonesia 17-0. On Sunday, the Philippines defeated Indonesia 13-4. Later in the afternoon, Guam topped CNMI 10-8 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.
Monday the Philippines defeated CMNI 6-5 to improve to 2-0.
A game between CMNI and Indonesia was set to be played Tuesday. Results of that game were not available at press time. Regardless of the results of that game, the two teams will play again Wednesday afternoon to determine which will place third in the tournament.
Guam will face the Philippines Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. in the final pool play game of the tournament. The game will basically decide which team will have the home-field dugout for the championship game set for 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
The winner of the tournament will join Panama, Puerto Rico and the host team, S.C. District One as teams already in the Big League World Series.
In the EMEA Regional tournament, the Netherlands defeated Moldovia 15-1 in the first game of the tournament in Ramstein, Germany, Monday. Tuesday Moldovia was set to play Germany. Results of that game were not available at press time.
Wednesday Germany will play the Netherlands in the final game of pool play for the tournament. On Thursday, the first- and second-place teams will face off to determine the EMEA champions.
The U.S. Southeast Regional begins Friday in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The U.S. West Regional begins Saturday in Bremerton, Washington. The U.S. Southwest Regional begins Saturday in Rushton, La. The U.S. East Regional begins Sunday in Dover, Del. The U.S. Central Regional begins Monday in Wyoming, Mich. The Canadian Regional Tournament begins next Thursday in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The Big League World Series will be played in Easley July 28-Aug. 4 at the J.C. “Red” Owens Recreation Complex in Easley, with the championship game Aug. 4 set to be broadcast live on ESPN.
